+44 1642 955350Air Products, a global leader in clean energy, implemented IAMTech’s iPermit electronic permit-to-work (ePTW) software at the Hydrogen Innovation and Development Center (HIDC)—a core part of the world’s largest green hydrogen project, led by NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC).
As part of the NEOM megaproject, HIDC required a scalable and intelligent permit-to-work system to manage high-risk operations during testing and development phases. With complex activities and multiple teams operating in parallel, paper-based permits could not support the level of safety, traceability, or real-time control demanded by Air Products’ stringent EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) protocols.
The team needed a digital platform that could provide full visibility of all ongoing work, automate safety checks, and prevent conflicting or unsafe tasks—particularly during simultaneous operations (SIMOPS).
IAMTech deployed iPermit, tailoring the system to match Air Products’ operational workflows and safety standards. The platform digitises the entire work authorisation process, from permit request through to approval, and gives users access via mobile devices for real-time permit creation and tracking in the field.
iPermit’s anti-clash technology was essential in reducing the risk of overlapping work, while its live dashboard ensured all stakeholders had instant visibility into current and upcoming permit activity. The system also created a full, auditable safety record to support inspections, reviews, and future project phases.
Following the successful implementation at HIDC, iPermit is now being extended into the commissioning phase of the wider NEOM Green Hydrogen Company project—continuing to support safe, efficient, and innovative operations at one of the most ambitious renewable energy sites in the world.
